TURN TO ME
Barak said to her, “If you go with me, I will go; but if you don’t go with me, I won’t go.” “Very well,” Deborah said, “I will go with you. But because of the way you are going about this, the honor will not be yours, for the Lord will hand Sisera over to a woman.” -Judges 4:8-9

In this chapter, Barak was instructed by the Lord through prophetess Deborah to gather his troops for fight a battle that the Lord would win for them. On hearing this, Barak said that he would go only if Deborah came with him. God knows the end from the beginning, and he had already seen before Barak, but Barak doubted God and looked to Deborah for help and assurance.

Just like Barak, God is urging us to look to him for what we need, not man. After all God has done and continues to do for us, many of us still find it rather difficult to fully trust in him. Whenever someone or something hurts us, we immediately turn to friends or other people for comfort. When we face obstacles, we turn to man for help. Why do we look to man for to fight our battles when the Lord clearly says that the battle is mine? Why do we turn to man to see what only God who foreknew us can see?

God still hears and delivers; yet we have swayed so far from Him. He longs to be that person that we run to whenever we are faced with trials of any kind. He longs to be the person that we run to for comfort, for deliverance, for reassurance, etc. He wants to be our everything. The Israelites were continuously reprimanded for depending on man and idols, instead of God. Now, two thousand years later, God is still dealing with the same issue. When are we going to break this cycle?

I dare you to be the change that Christianity is in desperate need of. I dare you to depend on God! When you learn to do this, he will bring the right people and things in your life and place you in the right situations. Just make sure that you do not turn those situations, people and things into gods, like Barak did.

Stay blessed and spread the word.
