TOMORROW
Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day as enough troubles of its own. –Matthew 6:34

“I just want to know what my future holds so that I can make better decisions.” “If God would just tell me whether I am going to get married or not, I’ll stop worrying about it and focus on other things.” “I am putting in a lot of time and hard work into this job, but I have no idea how long God is going to call me to be here.” “What if God calls me to go to a third world country to be a missionary? Maybe I should be doing something that will prepare me for that.”

All of the statements above were made by different people of different ages and gender and in different places in life. I remembered them as I read Matthew 6:34, and I wanted to share them with you to encourage you that God does not simply want to tell you what your destination is and set you off alone on your journey to get there. No, He wants to be your travel companion and to walk with you every step of the way and lead you daily.

When I think about being led by God every step of the way, I think of examples like Abraham, Noah, Moses, David, Joshua, Gideon, Mary, etc. As we read each of their stories, we find that the Lord was always with them. He often gave them instructions on the next step to take, and after they obeyed, He gave them the next set of instructions, and so on. They had to depend on His guidance and provision for every step they took. Is this what your journey with the Lord looks like?

It is very easy to get caught up in the trap of waiting for God to tell us everything about our journey through life before we make a move. But when we do this, we miss out on the wonderful love relationship that the Lord longs to have with each of His children. He wants us to know Him enough to trust Him, and to trust Him enough to follow Him wherever He leads us daily. When we have a confidence in God as the Lord of our lives, we begin to trust that He will equip us for whatever He calls us to do or to be, and we become free from worry and anxiety. We become free to truly love Him, walk with Him, and avail ourselves completely to Him.

Please take a look at the examples of Abraham (Genesis 12-22), Noah (Genesis 6-9), Moses (Exodus 1-7), Joshua (Joshua 1-5), Gideon (Judges 6-7), David (1 Samuel 16-17), Mary (Luke 1-25) and see how God led them. All of these people were ordinary at best when God called them, but as they walked with Him and trusted Him, He revealed His will to them bit by bit and equipped them with all that they needed and worked through their lives to do the most extraordinary things.

So dear friends, let us stop worrying about tomorrow and simply focus with walking with Christ daily. As we walk with Him in obedience daily, we find that we are always in the center of His will, living live with Him.

Grace and peace be with you.
