As the deer pants for the streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God…~Psalm 42:1-2
Do you understand what David meant when he wrote, “My soul thirsts for God”?
Can you feel how much he loved him?
We are all human, and we hunger and thirst for many things besides food and water. We yearn for love, the approval of others, trust, etc. We basically want satisfaction from people we care about, so we seek this out in everyone we meet. What we sometimes fail to realize is that God is the source of ultimate satisfaction. When we gain the Lord’s acceptance, everything else is added. He fulfils us in a way that no man can ever come close to.
How do we gain the Lord’s acceptance? By hungering and thirsting for him, by seeking his face daily, by treating him like we treat people we care about, etc. The more we do this, the more he reveals himself to us. The more he reveals himself to us, the stronger our relationship in him grows, and the more this grows, the more fulfilled we are, and the more confident we are in ourselves. God wants us to make him the air that we breathe. He wants us to want to spend time with him, to meditate on his words, and just to love him unconditionally.
So brethren, use David’s words as an example, and live your life hungering and thirsting for God, and just watch how he responds to you!!!
Does your soul thirst for God?
If not, what are you waiting for?
Stay blessed and spread the word.
