THE ROOF THAT NEVER LEAKED
Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken, but endures forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds His people, both now and forever more. –Psalm125:1-2

The excerpt above blows my mind. As I read it, I imagine a huge mountain that can withstand just about anything; it cannot be shaken or moved. The psalmist compares those who trust in the Lord to that mountain. Can you imagine that? When you trust in the Lord, trials and temptation may come your way, but you will not be moved because you trust in a God that is mightier than anything in this universe.

The very cool part about Psalm 125:1-2 is that the first verse compares those who trust in God to a mountain that cannot be shaken, but it does not end there; the Psalmist goes on to explain why he made that statement. He wrote that the Lord surrounds His people and protects them as a mountain does a city. So that fact stands that God ALWAYS protects His people, but if you do not believe that or trust in it, then you will always quiver in fear when trials come.

Ok imagine this with me for a second. You buy a house, but for some reason, you do not have a lot of confidence in the quality of the roof. Although the builders have assured you that it is top of the line, you just don’t trust in their word. So as you live in the house, everything is peaceful until one night you see grey clouds and hear thunderstorms. You heart begins to race, you run to cover all you furniture and equipment with plastic just in case the roof gives out and begins to leak. You stay up all night looking up for leaks until the storm ends. The storm ends and the roof held up just as the builders assured you that it would, but now you are tired and overwhelmed all because you did not trust the builders. Perhaps, if you had trusted them, you would have gotten a peaceful nights rest, rather than frantically trying to protect your self and your property. And if for some reason, the roof did give way, don’t you think the builders would have taken care of any damages because they gave you their word?

The Lord is a roof over His people and He assures us through His word that He will always protect us through any storms or rains that may beat over us. Will you trust in this today? Or will you run around taking matters into your own hands to protect yourself every time you see grey clouds? Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken, but endures forever. Will you put your trust in Him today?

Grace and peace be with you.
