THE MAN OF PRAYER
O God, whom I praise, do not remain silent, for wicked and deceitful men have opened their mouths against me…they attack me without cause. In return for my friendship they accuse me, but I am a man of prayer. –Psalm 109:1-4

Perhaps some of us have had experiences similar to David’s in Psalm 109. You may have been unjustly accused by someone who was out to destroy your reputation and hurt you. Maybe rumors were spread about you. Maybe a friend, supervisor, or loved one heard the rumor and jumped to conclusions without first consulting with you. Whatever the case maybe, it is imperative that like David, you become men/women of prayer.

Society tells us to repay evil for evil, but the Lord instructs us to leave room for his vengeance. This is what it is all about. David’s response to all of the atrocities against him was simply prayer, that is, he put it all in God’s hands. I know this may be a difficult thing for us to do, but I want to challenge us all to always endeavor to leave room for God’s wrath in the midst of trying situations in our lives. If we can only learn to respond to every situation in our lives with prayer, we can position ourselves exactly where God needs us to be in order to receive his insurmountable blessing and favor.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. –Philippians 4:6-7

When we respond with prayer, God’s peace guards our hearts and minds so that we think more like Jesus would. It is truly an amazing experience if we only allow it.

Stay blessed and spread the word.
