|Not everyone who says to me ‘Lord, Lord’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in Heaven. –Matthew 7:21
I cannot count how many times I have heard people preach that all you have to do is believe in Jesus Christ, and you will be saved. This is a very scary thought! If it were really that easy to inherit the Kingdom of Heaven, then why does the Bible instruct us to do so much? Every time I read the Bible, I wonder if I do enough and what else I could possible do to ensure that I get in through that narrow gate that the Bible talks about just a few verses before in verse 13.
So then what is it that we ought to do to get into Heaven? First of all and most notably obvious, it is of utmost importance to obey the commandments; this includes loving your Lord, God and also loving your neighbor as yourself. Next you have to make sure that you care for the less privileged. Spend yourself in everyway for the work of God. Preach the word to everyone that will listen. Take up your cross daily, and never lay it down until you have finished the race.
I can write from today till kingdom come about what you ought to do, but I am sure you already know. Read your Bible and see what the disciples did to further the kingdom. See how they continued the good work that Jesus started during his time here on earth. Follow their examples and continue to do whatever else it takes to ensure your salvation. I cannot stress enough the importance of what you ought to do to enter into Heaven.
Not everyone who says ‘Lord, Lord’ will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. Do the will of God and never stop doing it, not until you inherit the Kingdom of Heaven.
Stay blessed and spread the word.
