THE BATTLE IS GOD'S
O our God, will you not judge them? For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon you…..He said: “Listen King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the Lord says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s. -2 Chronicles 12-15

When King Jehoshaphat prayed the prayer in the first half of the excerpt above; a vast army was coming against him and his army, and he felt helpless and scared, so he proclaimed a fast for all of Judah and turned to God in prayer. Have you ever found yourself in a similar situation? Have you ever found yourself in a tight spot, with family crises, broken relationships, problems at work, financial struggles, etc coming at you from any angle? How did you feel?

Mother Teresa once said, “I know God won’t give me anything I can’t handle. I just wish He didn’t trust me so much.” We are not created to survive independently from God; rather, we are created to live in a relationship with Him. However, oftentimes, we forget that we need God. We often get so caught up in our lives that we attempt to go on without God’s help. Agur in Proverbs 30 begged God to give him neither poverty nor riches; otherwise he may have too much and disown God or become poor and steal. So, in order to remind us that we need him, God sometimes allows us to face trials of many kinds.

When everything seems to be going wrong and we feel like we are unable to rescue ourselves like King Jehoshaphat did in 2 Chronicles, it is important for us to turn to God. It is important for us to find and take comfort in the One who sees our plight. He has promised to never leave nor forsake us, and we ought to rejoice in knowing that. Like Mother Teresa said, God will never give us anything we can’t handle. Even when we may feel helpless, God knows that we can handle anything that may come our way, as long as we remain in Him. Job felt helpless when he was tempted by the enemy, but God only allowed that because He knew that Job could handle it.

“There will be many times in life when we are unable to help ourselves out of trouble; the good news in Christ, however, is that we will never need to.” – Charles Stanley

When in doubt, remember that the battle is not yours, it’s the Lord’s! Don’t you dare try to fight it without him!

Stay blessed and spread the word.
