If you look at this scripture, you will see how Paul saw the Corinthians. In the first verse, he says “Brethren, I could not address you as spiritual but as worldly (carnal)-mere infants in Christ.” What category do you think you would fit into? Spiritual? Carnal?
Many Christians fit into the carnal category. When I say carnal, I mean fleshly people. We really can’t say that we are in Christ if we still live in the world, satisfying the desires of the flesh. We can’t call ourselves Christians and still continue to engage in premarital sex, homosexuality, lying, stealing, killing, adultery, drunkenness, witchcraft, hatred, debauchery, etc. These things are contrary to the Spirit.
We have a picture here of a girl who is working hard at home, probably cleaning and cooking. She is anxiously anticipating her marriage to Joseph as she works, and then an angel (Gabriel) appears to her to tell her that she is going to become pregnant with the son of the most high. I am sure she was shocked and afraid, especially because she was a virgin, and getting pregnant before marriage was a crime that warranted being stoned to death back them. What’s a girl to do?
Surprisingly enough, Mary understood and had faith that this was the will of God and she willingly submitted to God and his demand! Why do you think God chose her? I say it was because she had a heart of worship…a spirit of submission…faith.
God is calling you to be the same way. He says that he wants true worshippers that will worship him in spirit and in truth. What better way to worship God than to submit to him and to obey him? Being submissive to God is so much more than just doing what he says; it is telling him that you surrender everything to him, that you have faith in him. He blesses this so much that you will not even be able to fathom. I am sure Mary didn’t realize that her incredible response led to the fulfillment of God’s eternal plan for us all.
God loves you so much and has your best interest at heart, so have faith in that and trust him to make all of your life’s decisions for you. Surrender to him today…say yes to his will…submit to him, and I can assure you that he will NEVER let you down.
Stay blessed and spread the word.
