RID YOURSELF OF LUKEWARMNESS
Have you reached a point in your Christian walk where you feel stagnated? You try to pray, read your Bible, and go to Church, but the spark is gone. Have your daily devotions become so routine that you don’t even remember what you read about in the Bible? Have your prayers become so forced that when you finally do get down on your knees, your mind is on what you’d rather be doing? Where did that fire go? Why is it so difficult for you to get it back?

We are born again to walk with God. Walking with God means following Jesus. When we follow someone, we ought to be in constant motion because they are. But how can we aggressively follow God if after we have walked only a mile, we get tired and decide to sit for a while? God cannot wait for us because he has other followers behind him. What he does is send the Holy Spirit to rejuvenate us and help us get back into the race. How are we going to finish the race? It is our decision to make! If we want to be one of the first to finish, then we have to not only walk, but RUN!

Many of us Christians have become so lukewarm in our walks with God that we have begun to accept the bare minimum. I want to urge you all today to RID YOURSELVES OF LUKEWARMNESS! “So because you are lukewarm –neither hot nor cold –I am about to spit you out of my mouth” (Rev. 3:16). The more you view this Christian walk as a race, the more motivated you will get. “Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” –Philippians 3:13-14

Brethren, lukewarmness does not win you the prize. Mediocrity doesn’t get you to the front in the race! I challenge you to become intentional about igniting that fire within you again. I challenge you to recover that passion that pushed you to pray incessantly and find God in his word. I challenge you to fall in love with God all over again. Seek the help of the Holy Spirit, and steal away from everything and everyone. Turn off the television, turn off your cell phone, forget about the football and basketball game, forget about the bill that you haven’t paid, forget about that person that has occupied your mind, lock your door, turn all of your focus on the Most High and watch how that flame magically rekindles itself. Do this as often as needed and I assure you that you will continue to get rid of lukewarmness. The more passionate you become about Christ, the more you do things like him, and the more you become like him.

Stay blessed and spread the word.
