Have you ever wondered why we continue to fall into the same sin over and over again? Have you ever found yourself contemplating on whether or not to do something that you knew in your heart was wrong? For example, we know that going to visit that “friend” of the opposite sex at unholy hours is asking for trouble, but after hours of thinking about it, we somehow convince ourselves that we are stronger than we really are.
Manifestation comes from a seed of thought, so we need to renew our minds to think differently so that we can act differently. I think that if David had rejected and replaced his thoughts when he saw Bathsheba bathing from his rooftop, he could have avoided murder, the death of his son, and a whole lot of guilt.
The point that I am trying to make here is that in order to grow spiritually, we have to renew our minds to think spiritually ever day. The verse above tells us exactly what our thoughts are supposed to be on in order to get there. So brethren, whenever we get irresolute thoughts in our heads, we need to first recognize that they are not of God and then reject them immediately. The longer we dwell on a thought, the more likely we are to heed to it. So, the more we feast on the word, the more evident ungodly thoughts become to us and consequently the more conscious we are of them.
Before we can change the way we are, we have to first change the way we think. What thoughts are you dwelling on?
