Have you ever wondered why people in the Bible like David, Mary, Mary Magdalene, Peter, John, Paul, Jeremiah etc were considered to be such important figureheads for Christians? What made them so special? Why can’t we be like them?
I have often asked myself those questions, and with a little prayer and meditation, it came to me. All those people I mentioned were regular people just like us. They had faults, they had dreams, they had jobs, they had families and they walked the earth just as we do. The one thing they had that is lacking in the lives of so many Christians today is passion.
Somewhere down the line through different generations, we have lost the passion that was so evident in the lives of the earlier Christians. I remember hearing stories from older relatives about people who died for the word of Christ. They told me about how people were frequently healed, delivered, etc… What happened to all that?
It seems that Christians today have become more passionate about success than God. We worry so much about how we look and what people think of us that we barely have any more time or energy to worry about what God thinks. Our minds have become cluttered with so much noise and other distractions that many can’t even hear God’s voice. Our faith and persistence have become so weak that we are stuck in unwanted situations for so long. We pray, but we barely even believe in our own prayers. Our faith doesn’t move mountains anymore.
Yes, there are still Christians out there that are passionately on fire for Christ, but as a whole, we are becoming lukewarm. It is time to wake up Christians! We are in desperate need of a revival! The present state of this world needs a touch from God, and we are the fingers that God wants to use. Please make yourselves available! Allow the Holy Spirit to charge you up! Become passionate about what God can do through you, and develop enough faith and persistence to make Him use you as an instrument for His glory.
Let us regain the glory of the youth of Christianity! I dare you to become passionately on fire for Christ!
Stay blessed and spread the word.
