|Jonah obeyed the word of the Lord and went to Nineveh…When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways; he had compassion and did not bring upon them the destruction he had threatened. –Jonah 3
We discussed Jonah’s prayer last night, and how that prayer bought him his salvation. After Jonah was vomited from the fish’s belly, he was quick to do! He immediately fulfilled his promise to God. God says to us in Ecclesiastes 5:4-5, “When you make a vow to God, do not delay in fulfilling it. He has no pleasure in fools; fulfill your vow. It is better not to vow than to make a vow and not fulfill it.”
I have noticed that when we are in the midst of trials, we are very quick to make vows, but when God delivers us, we completely forget about the vows we made. Don’t let your mouth lead you to sin! Be quick to listen and quick to do, and be careful of what you say before God.“Do not be quick with your mouth, do not be hasty in your heart to utter anything before God. God is in heaven and you are on earth, so let your words be few.” –Eccl 5:2
“By your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”-Jesus
Jonah’s obedient gesture saved an entire city. He allowed himself to be used, thus turning them from the error of their ways, saving them from death and covering over a multitude of sins. You can do the same for your brothers/sisters, so brethren be obedient and be quick to fulfill your vows. God says that every nation and every person will know about him before Christ’s’ second coming. He’s calling you to be the vessel through which people come to know him. I challenge you today to allow yourself to be used!
Dear God, please burden our hearts with a desire to serve you. Cleanse us from all unrighteous and gives us a chance to start over. Speak to our hearts today father; make known to us your calling on our lives. Teach us how to serve you and be obedient to your words. We love you Lord. Thank you Father, thank you Son, thank you Holy Spirit, I Jesus Christ’s most precious name I pray. AMEN!
Stay blessed and spread the word.
