“Now my heart is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour?’ No, it was for this very reason I can to this hour. Father glorify your name!” –John 12:27
It is very humbling to read about what Jesus went through for us. As I read this passage, I was hurt because I felt a hint of the hurt that Jesus was going through. How could it have possibly felt for him to prepare to die for people that didn’t deserve it? For people that were going to turn around and bring disrepute to the blood that was shed for them? I can only imagine!
The point I am trying to make is that in spite of all the people in Jesus’ life, in spite of all the opposition He encountered, in spite of everything around him, Jesus never lost focus of the goal. He knew that He came into this world to die, and everything He did on earth led up to that very moment. He was persecuted, mocked, rejected, insulted, etc, but that never made him lose focus.
Can you say the same about your life? What is it that you were born to do? What is your purpose here on earth? Think about it with me for a second? Are you doing what you were born to do? Are you letting everything you do lead up to that moment when you finally fulfill your calling? Though important, I am not just referring to the calling on your spiritual life, I am also referring to the calling on your educational, professional, romantic, athletic, etc lives. What do you want to accomplish during your short duration here on earth?
I challenge you to focus on that/those goal(s) and never lose focus. In spite of all the opposition around you, in spite of the rejection you may face, in spite of all the persecution, mockery, insults, etc you may face, I challenge you to press on towards your goal. And brethren, when you heart becomes troubled, don’t tell God to save you from it, tell him to help you press on through your troubles and your circumstances. You truly can do anything through Christ who strengthens you! Don’t ever doubt that, don’t ever forget that, and don’t ever question that.
If Jesus could do it, you can do it as well, just because he lives, and more importantly, just because he lives in you.
