LIVE BY YOUR FAITH
For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and it will not prove false. Though it lingers, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay…but the righteous will live by his faith. –Habakkuk 2:3-4

God’s response to Habakkuk in the excerpt above instructs us on what to do while waiting on God for the fulfillment of a promise. God simply wants us to wait. There are many times in our lives that we are going to wonder where God is. We will even think things such as, “God, I have prayed and prayed, why have you turned a deaf ear to my prayers?” Or, “have I done something wrong?” But God’s response is basically, “I know something you don’t know yet, so just trust in my promise because it will certainly come at the appropriate time.”

God’s appropriate time may not be when we want or expect a response, but we have to be assured that his time is indeed the best time. Abraham and Sarah got a promise from God that they would bear a child. Abraham believed, but he and Sarah became so impatient that they took matters into their own hands. Abraham bore a child with the maidservant, and the child proved to be more of a curse than a blessing. God had a purpose in making them wait; he wanted to prepare them for something greater than their minds could conceive or even fathom.

What promises of God are you waiting on? Are you getting impatient? Are you considering taking matters into your own hands? Remember, “The righteous will live by his faith;” that is, the righteous must patiently trust God even in difficult and tempting situations. God knows us better than we can ever know ourselves, and knowing that should encourage us to patiently wait on him. God will never give us something that we are not prepared for, so he only brings his promises to fruition after we have been made ready. His promises will certainly come and will not delay. Though, in your eyes, it may linger, trust in his promises; trust in him. The righteous will live by his faith.

Stay blessed and spread the word.
