|And Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace." –Exodus 14:13-14
I recently read these verses and I haven’t been able to get them out of my head. I am going to break the verses down into several parts, so bear with me…
First, “DO NOT BE AFRAID.” This is one of the biggest problems that we as Christians have when it comes to our situations. You say that you have faith and that you trust God to deliver you, but you still fear! Why is this? Why is it so difficult for you to completely anchor your faith and trust on God without any reserve? Fear is the devil’s favourite tool to use against Christians, so be mindful of this and don’t give the devil a foothold.
Second, “STAND STILL.” Have you ever found yourself in the middle of a major crisis with everyone involved panicking? Picture a crowd of people who are worrying about something. Everyone is screaming, yelling, and running around trying to explain the situation and get your help. What is the first thing that comes to mind? EVERYONE JUST STOP! This is what Moses told the Israelites right before God parted the river, and this is what God is telling you in the middle of your crisis. Just stand still because only then can you thoroughly see him reveal his plans to you.
Third, “SEE THE SALVATION OF THE LORD.” Ultimately, if you truly are in Christ, salvation will be your reward in any trials you may face. You may not see it now, it may seem unlikely, but look through the eyes of faith and see the Salvation of the Lord. The Israelites were faced with a river that seemed impossible to cross, and their enemies were closing in on the from behind, it didn’t seem like there was any way out, but Moses, not knowing how, just knew that God was going to come through. Similarly, you have to just know that He will come through for you as well. Just like he parted the Red Sea for the Israelites, he will remove obstacles from your path and subjugate your enemies. Trust in him and see his salvation!
Finally, “THE EGYPTIANS YOU SEE TODAY, YOU WILL NEVER SEE AGAIN.” The troubles that you face will pass and you will never encounter them again. I am speaking prophetically into the hearts of certain people to assure you that you will never see ‘the Egyptians” again. Whatever your affliction may be, God is saying that he will fight for you and you will never have to deal with it again.
Trust God and don’t leave room for fear; stand still and hear the will of God and clearly see his plans; faithfully see the salvation of the Lord and eventually, your present storm will be over; never to rise up again.
Stay blessed and spread the word.
