THE KEY TO GOD'S BEST
Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach…No, the word is very near to you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so that you may obey it. –Deuteronomy 30:11-14

We often hear about the importance of being obedient to God, but how many of us take on the challenge to be obedient every chance we get? If we looked through the history books in the Bible, we would find that God was always pleased with obedience, and it was always rewarded in some way. Do you live a life of obedience?

We all say that we want God’s best, but did you know that God’s best is always coupled with obedience? Did you know that obedience is the key to moving the heart and hand of God in your life? Did you know that God would use you more if you were more obedient? Did you know that being obedient to God is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach?

Life might seem easier if we choose when to obey God, but we will never be satisfied with such a lifestyle. Instead, we will always wonder what would have happened if we were obedient. Saul disobeyed God in 1 Samuel 13 when he decided to make a religious sacrifice that Samuel, as priest, was supposed to make. Saul’s impatience caused him to disobey God, and because of this, Samuel said to him, “You have not kept the command the Lord your God gave you; if you had, he would have established your kingdom over Israel for all time. But now your kingdom will not endure; the Lord has sought out a man after his own heart and appointed him a leader of his people, because you have not kept the Lord’s command.” Saul missed God’s best because he was too impatient to be obedient.

What blessings from God have you missed out on because of disobedience through impatience or blatant disregard for the word of God? How many second bests have you had to settle for because your disobedience kept God’s best away? How many jobs, relationships, material blessings, etc have slipped out of your grip because you weren’t obedient enough to hold on to them?

Think about it. Obedience to God is as simple as always doing what He tells us to do through His word and through His spirit that lives inside of us. It is not too difficult for us or beyond our reach, so why don’t we begin to practice it today? Our future depends on it!

Grace and peace be with you.
