I’m sure we’ve all read the verse in the Bible that speaks about how man looks at the outward appearance, but God searches the heart (remember the story of David and Goliath?)
What is in your heart? Who are you? This is what God cares about. The content of your heart determines who you are. So when you want to make changes about yourself, the place to start is in your heart. If you hold a grudge against someone in your heart, you will never be comfortable around that person until you honestly allow your heart to forget.
I got into a fight with one of my very close friends and for a while we didn’t speak. After a few weeks, I apologized to her for my part in the fight, and she said that she forgave me but didn’t want to be friends with me anymore. I really thought this was a joke, but to my surprise, we’ve walked by each other all the time for almost two years and no words have been spoken; not even a hello. She said she forgave me, but it didn’t come from the heart, and that is still a problem now.
This is how we as humans are! Our words are meaningless and worthless to say the least, which is why they matter very little to God. He searches the heart. God could have easily told you that he loved you and forgave you of your sins, but he didn’t! He showed you from his heart that he loved you by sending you his son to die for you!
How do you show God that you love him? By telling him? Talk is cheap…pour out your heart and show God that you love him. Again brethren I ask you; What is in your heart?
