INTO HIS PRESENCE
Then Jesus went to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.”… Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death”…Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed. –Matthew 26:36-39

Do you ever feel so overwhelmed with life’s situations that you lose motivation? Have you ever grown so weary in doing good that you feel emotionally drained? Has something ever burdened you so much that you just wanted to give up on life? What did you do? Did it help you grow? Did you feel better?

Looking at Jesus’ example in the verses above; he got to a point where he was overwhelmed and was beginning to get discouraged. The first thing he thought to do was to go to a solitary place and pray. He stepped into the presence of God and cast his cares upon his father and laid his burdens at his feet. After this experience, Jesus was rejuvenated and his strength was renewed to carry out the purpose for which he came into the world.

Just like Jesus did, when we feel overwhelmed, it is important for us to enter into God’s rest. When we spend time alone with God, we are able to reevaluate our goals and realign them with his will. Only in the presence of God can we truly dump our burdens and leave them there. The world would advice us to take a vacation, do something risky, or just not think about it, but after all is said and done, we have to return to those things that made us feel the way we originally did. The Christian on the other hand is advised to turn to God for direction, to search out his words for wisdom, and enter his presence for rest. When we do this, God equips us with what we need to face and overcome our ‘stressors.’ (We can actually do this while on vacation; never turn down the opportunity to take a vacation.)

It is imperative for us as Christians to find time daily to enter into the presence of God. This keeps our relationship with him in good standing so that he can better pilot us into lives that glorify Jesus Christ. When we get to the point where our lives glorify Christ, the floodgates of blessings are opened unto us, and our relationship with him begins to have more meaning and we are completely transformed from the inside out. I can assure you that there is no place like the presence of God. In there you will find rest, peace, joy, comfort, understanding, and so much more. Why don't you enter into his presence today?

Stay blessed and spread the word.
