The lyrics above are the chorus from a song by a group called Casting Crowns. Every time I hear the song, I can almost hear Jesus saying, “Exactly! Why aren’t my arms reaching….and why is my love not showing them there is a way? Why are you not doing what I came into the world to show you myself?”
Since it is made perfectly clear that the moment we give our lives to Christ, we become members of the body of Christ, it is imperative that we fulfill our roles as members of his body. What is your role? Are you his arm that ought to be reaching out to help and care for others? Are you his hand that is supposed to be healing wounds and broken hearts? Are you his mouth that ought to be preaching and teaching life changing messages? Are you his foot that ought to be walking in righteousness and proactively going out into the world to proclaim the good news of Christ? Are you his heart that ought to be showing the world that there is a way?
Christ paid too high a price to teach us how to be his body here on earth, and we will be complete ingrates not to fulfill his greatest desire. Friends, if we are his body, why aren’t we doing our jobs?
What is your role? What body part are you? Begin to fulfill your role today! Remember, on Judgment Day, we will have to give an account of everything we have done here on earth. If you are his body…
