|Then he said to me, ďSon of man, eat this scroll I am giving you and fill your stomach with it.Ē So I ate it, and it tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth. He then said to me: ďSon of man, go now to the house of Israel and speak my words to them.Ē ~Ezekiel 3:3-4
These two verses above sum up a lot of what our purpose here on earth as Christians is. You were called to go out into the world and speak Godís words to all men. You may think that you donít have anything to say, but God has put his words in your mouth. Just like Ezekiel ate the scroll, you also are called to feast on the word of God. He has already given it to you, but many donít even know what to do with it.
When you are given a plate of food, what do you do with it? First you pray and thank God for it and you ask him to bless it so that it can be good for your body. Next, you grab a utensil and scoop out a portion of food and then you proceed to put it into your mouth. When the food enters your mouth, you begin to chew and eventually you swallow it. You continue to do this until you finish the entire plate of food. Hours later, you body digests the food and uses some of it to function, and the rest, excuse me, comes out.
Picture your Bible as a plate of food. You open it, and the first thing you ought to do is to thank God for it and ask him to bless you with the wisdom to understand that which you are about to indulge in. Next, you grab your utensils (your glasses or your eyes) and begin to read verse by verse, and then you put the words in your mind and on your heart. After the words enter into your mind, you begin to chew on it by meditating. You have to understand what you are reading before you can fully take it in. You continue to do this until you have finished you reading. Hours, days, or months later, you body continues to digest the words. You use some for your edification and to function as a Christian, and the rest, HAS TO COME OUT!
The word of God should be treated like your daily meals, the amount you eat as well as the process. You grow from it and some of it has to come out by you speaking to others and sharing your knowledge. The problem however is that many of us donít just eat what is good for us, we feel the need to indulge in foods that arenít necessarily good for our bodies. The same way, we indulge in words and other things that arenít good for our spirits. This is why we have to also practice exercising, shedding the unhealthy materials from our bodies as well as our spirits. The better your eating habits are, the better your body looks; the same goes for your spirit!
Fill your spirit with the word of God and share it with everyone who will listen. Edify yourself as well as others. God is telling you today to eat this book he is giving you and fill your stomach with it. Taste it and see how sweet it is, and then go now and speak it to the world! Happy Feasting!!!
Stay blessed and spread the word.
