|Then Nebuchadnezzar said, ďPraise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants! They trusted him in him and defiled the kingís command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God. ~Daniel 2:28|
We all know the story of Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and how they were chosen for a job with the king. Daniel interpreted a dream that nobody else could, so these men were promoted and greatly blessed. King Nebuchadnezzar required everyone in his kingdom to bow down and worship a golden image. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, being powerful men of God, never once did this, and when the other people in the kingdom noticed this, they brought it before the king and he became very furious with them and ordered them to be thrown into a fiery furnace that had been heated seven times over. This furnace was so hot that even the soldiers that threw them in there were burned to death. Like the men said to Nebuchadnezzar, the God they served did save them from it. The king was so amazed by this that he ordered that no one should ever speak against God and if they did, they would be cut to pieces.
The point I am trying to make here is that although the king had the power to kill anyone who defied his orders, those three mighty men of God were ready to put their lives on the line for God. This is exactly how we need to be. I remember when I was a freshman in college, I met an atheist, and I thought he had some good points about why he didnít believe in God. He seemed like he had thought it through a lot, and just wanted to share his beliefs with whomever was willing to listen. It is just now that I look back on it that I realized that I sat there for hours listening to him basically demean someone I believed in so much, and I did nothing to defend him. That was bad. There are people out there that are going to try to take you away from what you believe in. Look at how they took prayer out of schools, and we accepted it. They covered up a plaque of the 10 commandments on a court house, and we let it happen. Now, they are try to change the pledge of allegiance because it has the name of God in it, and what are we doing about it?
We just canít sit back and let them take God out of our world! We all need to stand strong and be willing to do whatever it takes to make people believe that God is real. If you believe that he is real, then you believe in his words, and if you believe in his words, then you should have faith that they are true and will all come to pass. Do whatever it takes to make sure that people know your God and will eventually come to believe in him. Put yourself out there, and be willing to take whatever may come your way! If the world threatens to throw you in a fiery furnace, tell them that the God you serve is able to save you from it and he will rescue you from their hands. I know that Iíd rather die knowing that I died because of my love for God than live knowing that I denied him.
Stay blessed and spread the word.
