|I noticed that I always used to compare myself to people who seemed more spiritual than me. Whenever I saw people who did more than I did at Church, I would get jealous and try to do more than they did. When we sang or did praise & worship, I tried to out praise everyone. It wasnít until recently that I realized how wrong this was. In Galatians 6: 4-5, Paul says, ďEach one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else, for each one should carry his own load.Ē |
Our salvation is not about any other person but us as individuals. When we are judged at the end of time, God is not going to compare you to anyone but you, so why should you? We are all different parts to the body of Christ, and we each have different functions. If we spend all our time focusing on what this person or that person is doing and trying to do that, then we might be stopping a vital part of the body from functioning.
How would your body function right if the ears got jealous because the eyes saw everything, and then the ears tried to start seeing? How would you hear if you have no ears? Think about this because thatís the same thing we do when we compare ourselves to other people and try to out do them. Maybe it is not your calling to be the best singer or to be the best preacher. Maybe you are supposed to be a drummer, or youíre supposed to be a coordinator. You get my drift? Take pride in yourself and donít compare yourself to anyone else. Donít worry about what anyone else is doing, the best comparison you can use is you and the you that God is calling you to be in Christ, so think about that the next time you do things just because someone else is doing them.
Stay blessed and spread the word.
