COME...TAKE...LEARN...FIND
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” –Matthew 11:28-30

The Pharisees had spent a long time placing “heavy loads” on men’s shoulders. They insisted on a legalistic interpretation of the law, placing unrealistic expectations on people to fully obey them the way they instructed them to. From reading the gospels, we find that this daunting task was impossible to do alone and in their sinful natures. (See Matthew 23:2-4)

Man’s attempt at fulfilling the requirements of the law brought about constant condemnation, weariness, and for the most part, hopelessness. Christ seeing this invited man to come to Him for rest. He invited man to trade the heavy loads that had been placed on his shoulders for His yoke that is easy and light. He invited man to come and learn from Him the unforced rhythm of grace; the kind of grace where one Man takes on the burden of all of the sin of mankind upon Himself and pays the consequence, death. He did this because of His great love for man.

If the Lord loved us enough to take on the burden of our sins upon Himself, why should we ever doubt that He is willing and able to take on the burden of our everyday fears, heartache, doubts, disappointment, desires, illnesses, etc? His invitation still rings out to the corners of all the earth today! Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest! Do you hear it? Will you heed?

Life can be terribly burdensome, but in Christ, you can find rest for your weary souls and relief from the weight your burdens. All you need to do is come to Him, take His yoke, learn from Him, and find rest for your souls. Will you do this today? When you are yoked together with Christ, He does the pulling, and you simply follow His lead. When we come to Him and submit our wills (burdens) to Him, He leads us in the path we ought to go, and if we chose to follow, we will certainly find rest. I challenge you today dear friends to honor His invitation.

Grace and peace be with you.
