BECOMING HIS REFLECTION
I woke up very early this morning, so I decided to listen to some music on television. I watched a Christian artist, Natalie Grant; perform a song called ‘Make Me Over.’ As I listened to the lyrics of the song, my heart completely melted and I was moved to tears.

Make me over, make me new
Make me a mirror, a reflection of You
Take me all apart, take me to Your heart
And pull me closer
Oh Jesus, make me over

I fell down to my knees and cried out to God to make me over. I told him that I needed to be a mirror because I longed to be a reflection of him. I said I wouldn’t worry about the past; I would just let his light shine through me for today everyday. As I prayed that prayer, my soul leaped within me. That feeling reminded me of the way I felt when I dedicated my life to Christ years ago. It was truly an amazing feeling!

Most of us have probably felt at one point or another that we needed something more out of our Christian lives. We have all probably longed at some point for something more than feeling on fire on Sunday, only to be overwhelmed almost to the point of depression by Wednesday. Many of us may even feel like our Christian lives have become stale and almost robotic. We wake up, we pray, we read our Bibles if we have the time, we go to work, we come back tired, we eat, we pray and then we go to bed. Somewhere amidst the monotonous routines of our daily lives, we may have somehow lost our zeal and enthusiasm about our relationships with Christ.

I am here to tell you today that God can indeed make our feet like hind’s feet so that we may leap up to the high places a little more everyday. If we desire to grow in our walks with Christ, we can make that happen by choosing to experience God in a new way everyday. We can bask in the glory of God by choosing to see the beauty of his holiness and faithfulness in our everyday lives. We can choose to experience him while we pray, while we work, while we walk, while we talk, while we sit, while we worry, while we cry, while we feel depressed and alone, while we are happy and excited, etc. This is how we can be continually made over everyday until we become a reflection of Him.

When we decide to see God in every aspect of our lives, we become more aware of our insecurities and shortcomings, and begin to realize how we ourselves are actually the reasons behind our loss of zealousness. We begin to realize that we actually get in the way of our spiritual growth. Only after we have come to that realization can we be truly made over into a better reflection of Christ.

Paul said it best when he wrote in Philippians 3:8-11, “What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ –the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith. I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, become like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.”

Dear Lord, we long to experience you in a new way today. Please reveal yourself to us. Reveal to us those things in our lives that may be standing in the way of a progressive relationship with you. We long to become mirrors, reflections of you. Make us over Lord. Take away our sin, pride and insecurities. Lord take us all apart, take us to your heart and pull us closer. Father Lord, make us over; make us like you. In Jesus name, AMEN!

Stay blessed and spread the word.
